The role of our congregational care team here at Grandville UMC encompasses the following:
Hospitality – providing a welcoming atmosphere on Sunday mornings with coffee and refreshments at the Welcome Center, as well as hosting special times of fellowship and recognition following worship.
Care and Comfort – sending cards, notes and gift cards, making phone calls, delivering bread or providing a meal to those who are ill or homebound. We also administer the Congregational Care Fund which offers financial assistance to those in our congregation who have a specific need.
Outreach – sending follow-up notes to those who visit our worship service and supporting and recognizing our youth, college students and campers throughout the year. We are also working to update our Welcome Brochure.
It’s easy to help us continue to be a welcoming and caring congregation:
- Share a smile and introduce yourself to someone you don’t know.
- Bake (or buy) some treats or refreshments for our Sunday morning fellowship time.
- Volunteer to drive occasionally for someone needing a ride to a doctor’s appointment.
- Offer to visit someone who is homebound or unable to come to church on a regular basis.
Every offer and act of kindness is welcomed and most appreciated. It’s a wonderful way to get to know those in our church family, and who knows, you just might make a new friend. If you have questions about any of these opportunities, you can contact the church office at (616) 538-3070.
