CONGREGATIONAL CARE!

It’s up to all of us!

“Is anyone of you in trouble? They should pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick?  He should call the elders of the church to pray …” —James 5:13-14

Each week in our bulletin we include a prayer list. We hope you will contact the office or pastor with concerns or joys you would like shared with our congregation, so together we can offer prayers of petition and songs of praise and thanks. We also hope each member of our congregation continues in prayer during the week for those listed, seeking God’s guidance in reaching out to those who need the loving touch of our congregation. A card, a call or a visit, to let folks know they are in our prayers, helps us all feel the power of being the Body of Christ.

Our committee consists of eight persons who meet monthly. Our scope and purpose is threefold:

Hospitality – which includes providing a welcoming atmosphere on Sunday mornings with greeters, coffee, refreshments and information at the Welcome Center, as well as hosting special times of fellowship and recognition following worship.

Care and Comfort – which is demonstrated by sending cards, making phone calls and visits, supporting the work of the prayer shawl ministry, providing meals and drivers, as well as administering the Congregational Care Fund.

Outreach – which is done with our Welcome Brochure, Visitor Bags and follow-up notes to those who visit our worship service.  We have also facilitated training in CPR, use of the AED, and safe driving classes for our community.

Congregational Care Committee sincerely appreciates everyone who has volunteered to help.  Your assistance has been a real blessing to us all.

At the Welcome Center you will find several sign-up sheets.  Please consider adding your name to one of these lists.  It’s a wonderful way to help our church family, and who knows, you just may make a new friend.  Here’s how you can help:

  • Bring a smile and be a greeter on Sunday morning or help at the Welcome Center.
  • Bake (or buy) some treats or refreshments for our Sunday morning fellowship time.
  • Volunteer to drive occasionally if someone needs a ride for a doctor’s appointment.
  • Add your name to the list of volunteers who bring Marcie Christner to church on Sunday mornings.
  • Offer to visit our members who are homebound or unable to come to church on a regular basis.

Every offer and act of kindness is welcomed and most appreciated.  If you have questions about any of these opportunities, you can contact the church office (538-3070) or Judy Bengtson (531-1846).
